Join the WDC Community Group Chat!
The Walls Down Collective is a group of abolitionists dedicated to creating networks of care and resistance, focusing on freedom from oppression and liberation for all beings. We reside on the stolen lands of so-called Canada, with most of us and our work focused in Moh'kinstsis (Calgary). We recognize our interdependency with all beings, including the Land, and challenge ourselves on tendencies of hyper-individualism, practicing radical forms of care. Together, we continue to work on kicking down the walls blocking us from our liberation.

As of February 2025, our primary focus is the Community Care & Crisis Phone Line, which exists to lessen police interactions with our communities, as well as providing educational and skill-sharing opportunities. As a member of our community group chat, you are a Supporter of our work and will receive updates on upcoming events and initiatives. Supporters are not members of the Collective, but contribute their time and efforts to WDC. With demonstrated commitment, interest, and belief in the work, supporters can become members.

Supporters commit to the following:
  • Contribute funds or material items to the work the Collective does
  • Attend Community Discussions and/or Reading Groups
  • Engage in our WDC Community Support Signal chat
  • Attend training sessions. We have hired folks outside of our collective with various layers of lived experience to help in providing ongoing internal and external learning opportunities to ensure we remain focused and grounded in our mission of collective liberation. These learning sessions range from conflict resolution and community accountability, to first aid and mental health crisis support.
  • Participate in external initiatives such as extreme weather response and other emergency support needs (example: supporting individuals during an encampment raid)
When participating in in-person initiatives, we all follow and respect these guidelines:
  • Do not call the cops
  • Adhere to safety practices for Covid-19 and other public health risks, which may involve wearing an appropriate mask and/or rapid testing—and this is not an exhaustive list. All persons present must agree to the practices beforehand to ensure everyone feels safe
  • Abide by WDC’s Values & Guidelines, and follow the guidance of members
Find these details and more in the WDC Layers of Engagement & Expectations document.
