College Composition (ENGL 1100): If any English course will be required in college, it will almost always be College Composition. This course provides instruction and practice in writing essays for a variety of purposes and audiences. You will receive instruction and help in developing ideas, thinking critically, organizing your writing, using databases, and revising and editing sentences. By approaching writing as a process involving pre-writing, drafting, peer response, revising, and editing, you will write more clearly, fully and gracefully. This course serves as a gateway course to many other courses (meaning once you pass this course, you will be allowed into other higher level college courses.)

Introductory Statistics (Math 1140): This course is valuable for a variety of college majors. It emphasizes both the interpretation and evaluation of surveys, experiments, probabilities, graphic/tabular displays, data summaries, or other statistical reports encountered in daily life as well as statistical calculations. You will learn about data collection, numerical and graphic summaries, basic ideas of probability, and hypothesis testing.

Strategies for College Success (FYST 1100): This is a great first course for students planning to go to college. You can earn credit that counts toward the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum while also learning skills needed to reach your educational goals. Topics include college requirements and expectations, academic and career goal-setting, time planning, stress management, communication skills, learning styles, and an overview of study skills.

Career Exploration (CCDS 1000): I credit college course, How to Succeed in College – Career Exploration is a hands-on class that introduces you to in-demand technical careers close-up. In this 1-credit class, as you explore careers such as Business, Transportation, Emergency Medical, Media Communication, Manufacturing and Landscaping, you will also learn skills to thrive in college and achieve that rewarding career you always wanted.

Race in America (SOCI 1400): This course is an introduction to the history and theories of race, ethnicity, and racism in the United States. Students will explore the social construction of race as a concept, the processes by which social institutions create and reproduce racial inequalities, and the role of social movements in bringing about social change. Students will learn to analyze current race relations from multiple perspectives. (Prereq: Qualifying score on reading assessment test OR ENGL0921.)

Medical Terminology (HLUC 1020): This blended online course is designed to acquaint the student with medical terms and abbreviations used in health care settings. Students will be introduced to terms related to basic human anatomy, common diseases and related terminology. Medical abbreviations used by the Health Unit Coordinator and other members of the health care team will be introduced. (Prereq: Qualifying score on reading assessment test OR ENGL0921)

Information Systems (ITEC 1000): This blended online course is designed to acquaint the student with medical terms and abbreviations used in health care settings. Students will be introduced to terms related to basic human anatomy, common diseases and related terminology. Medical abbreviations used by the Health Unit Coordinator and other members of the health care team will be introduced. (Prereq: GPA 2.6 or higher OR Qualifying score on reading assessment test OR ENGL0921
