ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Overview
The Alumni Fellows program is designed to support eligible Willie Mae Rock Camp program alumni in developing their artistic and technical skills, creating new creative works, and advancing their careers in music and audio-related fields.
Fellows create a project of their choosing with support from our program team and special guest mentors. Proposed projects must incorporate creative technology and at least two forms of media (i.e. an instrument and software, video and audio, etc.).
As an Alumni Fellow, you will receive:
- One-on-one mentorship from professional musicians, artists, and creative technology experts
- Hands-on training in a technical skill, such as audio software, hardware, or sound design
- Access to our creative sound lab and collection of electronic instruments, gear, and creative tech
- Support in creating a new creative work
- The opportunity to present your work at a culminating performance or presentation
- The opportunity to facilitate a workshop with current students
- Networking and professional development opportunities
- Up to a $10,000 stipend, paid in two installments
- Up to $1,000 budget for supplies and gear related to your project
- Documentation of your final presentation for your portfolio
Projects may include (but are not limited to):
Multimedia installation, electronic music performance with software and live coding, spatialized audio installation, interactive sound-making experience for an audience, build your own electronic instrument and perform with it, field recording research project and presentation.

- Synthesis (analog/modular synthesizer approaches)
- Creative composition
To be eligible for the Alumni Fellows program, you must:
- Be an alumna of Willie Mae Rock Camp's youth programs
- Identify as female, non-binary, transgender, or another gender-marginalized identity
- Be between the ages of 18-26
- Be an emerging artist, musician, or creative in a music or audio-related medium
- Not have an existing recording contract
- Commit to at least 4 hours per week for weekly meetings and project development
Timeline
- Application period starts: February 1, 2025
- Info sessions: February 24 and March 17
- Application deadline: March 31, 2025
- Interviews: April 14-30, 2025
- Fellows announced: May 1, 2025
- Program start date: June 2, 2025
- Program end date: September 30, 2025
