Sparks @ UoB: Registration Application for the 2nd Edition of the Sparks Moot (WMILAR), 2025
This application form may only be filled out by universities seeking to register delegates to participate in the Moot Court (minimum 2, maximum 4 participants) or Policy Negotiation Competition (2 participants), of the Paula Sparks World Moot on International Law and Animal Rights (Sparks Moot), open now for the second edition.

Please read the WMILAR HandbookTimelinegeneral and specific Terms of Use, and the Privacy Policy carefully before applying to register, ensuring, among others, that all eligibility, etc. requirements are met.

Please fill out the following registration information, on behalf of the university and all participants (university contact persons/coaches, team members, and trainees) whom you are applying to register. If your registration application is approved, you will be invited to pay the registration fee. Your registration will only be confirmed if and when the full payment is received by the WMILAR by the stipulated deadline. After confirmation, each university may send up to 5 delegates for the Moot Court Competition (2-4 team members + 1 coach) and/or 3 delegates for the Policy Negotiation Competition (2 team members + 1 coach), in accordance with its registration.

Each component is stand-alone, i.e., universities may register teams for one or more component.

Timeline and Important Dates:
  • 14 July 2025: Opening of registrations
  • 1 September 2025: Release of compromis and policy consultation
  • 1 November-14 December 2025: Training courses (exclusively online)
  • 9 February 2026: Closing of registrations
  • 9 February 2026: Memorial and policy paper submission deadline
  • 10-12 March 2026: Policy negotiation and legal advocacy/moot court competition rounds (online/in-person)

Registration Fees (all payable in GBP):

  • In-person moot court (legal advocacy) competition: 300 GBP per team
  • In-person policy negotiation competition: 200 GBP per team
  • Online moot court (legal advocacy) competition: 200 GBP per team
  • Online policy negotiation competition: 175 GBP per team
  • Training course (any): 200 GBP per team
The WMILAR plans, in good faith but without legal obligation, to offer refreshments, breakfast, and lunch on all competition days to participants, as well as a drinks reception (5:30-6:30 pm), closing dinner (8-10 pm), and dance party (9 pm-2 am) on the final evening.
Should any delegate wish to attend the optional reception, dinner, and dance party on the last day of the event, a fee of 50 GBP per delegate will be charged.
