Scholarships Awarded:

$25,000+ in general scholarships that can be used at any accredited college or trade school (awarded to the top scoring students in each category)*

$9,000 in University of Alaska scholarships for UAA, UAF or UAS (based on coach recommendations and student essays)

$2,500 to rural participants that can be used at any accredited college or trade school (based on coach recommendation and student essay).*

An Academic Decathlon team is composed of between six and nine students with varying GPA levels and requires at least two students  from the following categories: Honors (3.8 - 4.0 GPA), Scholastic (3.2-3.799 GPA) and Varsity (0-3.199 GPA.).  Partial teams (teams with more or less students in any category) are welcome to participate but can not advance to the National Competition. *

The cost of participation in the  Alaska Academic Decathlon program is $550 per team payable to SERRC- Alaska's Educational Resource Center. Travel costs to the State Competition (including accommodations and some food) are the responsibilities of each school and/or district. Please list the name of the person who should receive the invoice along with their mailing address and email.  *

The Academic Decathlon is proud to partner with Alaska 529 to award a total of $40,000 in scholarships to Decathletes and Pentathletes (middle school students) throughout Alaska.
