Parent/Student Nomination Form for King 2026-27 School Site Council (SSC) and P&O Committee
Please nominate yourself to serve on the School Site Council (SSC)!

The SSC works with the Principal to review the school’s academic goals and evaluates how well those goals are being met. The SSC approves the annual School Plan, the school’s Safety Plan, and also has a voice in approving the ELAC’s plan for teaching English-language learners.

Further, the SSC evaluates currently funded programs and prioritizes needs to prepare a budget using Title I funds (if available), and the BSEP funds allocated to our school. BSEP (Berkeley Schools Excellence Program) is a parcel tax responsible for about 20% of the Berkeley Unified School District's budget, and 10.25% of those funds are allocated to school sites for activities which improve student performance.

What is the District P&O Committee?  
The Planning & Oversight (P&O) Committee reviews all of the plans and budgets for the over-$33 million dollars provided annually by the BSEP local tax funding, as well as the revenue from our BERRA tax supporting recruitment and retention of BUSD educators. You do NOT need to be a member of the SSC to represent our school on the P&O Committee.
