To all the people who used to be in the fandom or are currently in it, it has come to our attention that the Beano fandom has grown to be more toxic than before.

Of course, we can't control the fandom, as all fandoms have some bad apples, but we have heard of some fans complaining about the state of the fandom – especially about how people handle opinions of ships and many things, people "criticising" the comic wrongfully and taking the comic a little too seriously. And as seasoned admins and moderators of the Discord server and Subreddit, we can confirm that there have been various incidents that have broken out.

Because many issues have risen, we would simply like to know what your experiences inside the Beano fandom were like, regardless of how many years ago it was or if it's recent. We need to do this to make some improvements. And if said improvements are not made, these incidents will possibly escalate to something way too dangerous. And we'd like to do everything we can to avoid that.

We can't control many crazy behaviours as it's a fandom. The only thing we can do is to try and make the available spaces relating to the Beano a bit more safer and more comfortable for all, younger or older. Please note that while honesty is welcome, any extremely horrible and toxic comments will not be tolerated, and such responses will be discarded without warning.

All experiences will be noted to investigate and figure out solutions for what we can do as members of the Beano and the D.C Thomson comics fandom.

Names are going to be required, but if you wish to stay anonymous, then you are welcome to use initials (example: S) or an alternative/fake name. Let's hope the issues slow down at best.
