Each year, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association honors a senior participant in the Boys' State Tournament with the Ted Sanford Award, in memory of the former KHSAA Commissioner. This award is based on excellence in four areas -- Academic Achievement, Basketball Ability, Citizenship and Sportsmanship. The recipient also receives a one-time, non-renewable $1000 scholarship provided through the donations of KHSAA Corporate Partners.
