PICU Training Program for Capacity Building of Medical Colleges and District Hospitals
This PICU training program has been developed for capacity building of medical colleges and district hospitals in managing sick children. Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) AIIMS Patna in association with National Health Mission (NHM) and State Health Society Bihar (SHSB) has developed a hybrid module to train paediatricians and nurses involved in care of children at various medical colleges, district hospitals, and other health facilities. There is no registration fee for this and all health care workers (HCWs) are encouraged to go through, irrespective of their state and whether they work in govt or private sector. In this module, we have used training material developed at AIIMS Patna as well as PPTs and videos provided by NHM and SHSB developed at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital (KSCH) New Delhi. This capacity-building program is focused on strengthening of immediate care needed for sick children including those with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and acute encephalitis syndrome (AES). The hybrid training program is divided into online and offline modules. Selected doctors and nurses, who successfully complete this online module and eSanjeevani: IAP eBLS Foundation Course, will be invited for the offline, one-week residential training at AIIMS Patna with financial support from SHSB and NHM as part of capacity building programs for medical colleges and district hospitals.
