What is the 826 Valencia Saturday Treasure Mart? The 826 Valencia Saturday Treasure Mart (826STM) is a weekly event put on by the Pirate Supply store in which we host local vendors, retailers, and independent artists local to the Bay Area to sell their wares in our space. We are a youth nonprofit, so we do require that all materials sold be appropriate for all-ages. We don’t have a limit on what wares can be sold outside of that. We are asking for a 15% donation of proceeds from sales or donations collected in our space, instead of a flat fee.
Why are we doing this?Normally our writing labs are filled with young authors honing their writing craft, but it goes entirely unused on Saturdays—which is consistently our busiest day in the store. This provides a unique opportunity to bring in outside artists into our space, providing exciting activities and products to promote and drive foot traffic to the store. It also helps fundraise directly for our organization.
How can you get involved? Are you an independent artist interested in hawking your wares somewhere a little off-kilter? Do you know of someone who might be interested in the aforementioned hawking? Do you make some other sort of craft or good and want to try out a new little craft market, or even just have some unique skill you'd like to show off in our space? Feel free to submit your information here, or pass this survey along to someone who you think might get a kick out of it!
When & Where? The 826STM will take place (in these early phases) at our 826 Valencia Street location, the Pirate Supply Store. Our initial time allotted to sell is 2:00-6:00 p.m., with time before and after to set up and break down, however hours are flexible. We are planning this event to take place on Saturdays between July and August.
Final notes:
We are still in the early development stages of the 826STM. After initial responses to participate, we will begin building our schedule and reaching out to people individually with details and any necessary preparation. If you fill out this form, expect a response from us by mid-May. If you have any questions about the event you can email Zach or Byron directly, at zach@826valencia.org or byron@826valencia.org.
