Students considering this option may have (a) hyphenated last names with a preference for one part (such as Lopez instead of Lopez-Rodriguez), (b) gender identities that differ from their gender assigned at birth, (c) compound first names (such as Mary Anne), (d) middle name preferences, (e) nicknames that reference a legal name (such as Jack instead of Jackson), etc.
