Write All About It is 826NYC's new ongoing journalism program for writers in grades 5-8. It launches over Zoom in March 2021, and will transition to in-person meetings at the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company when we return to live programs.
***
Have you ever wondered why some stories make headlines for weeks and others never get told? What about the difference between an op-ed and an investigative report?
Whether you’ve always dreamed of a New York Times byline or you’re still wondering what a byline is, welcome to 826NYC’s journalism program! In Write All About It, reporters from grades 5-8 will learn how to conduct a great interview, how to write a classic news story, and more importantly, how to sniff out where the great untold stories of Brooklyn are hiding! We’ll focus on hyper-local news -- you might break a story right on your block! -- and see how it connects to what’s going on across the country and around the world. Student work will be published regularly on 826NYC’s Medium page.
WHO: Grades 5-8
SCHEDULE:
Thursdays, starting March 4
4-5:30pm
