Background:

ICE is looking to prolong immigration detention for an additional 10 years in Texas by extending contracts for three for-profit ICE jails: South Texas Detention Complex, T. Don Hutto Residential Center, and the Houston Processing Center.

If ICE is able to secure these contracts, the agency will be able to extend the detention of immigrants, further binding Texas–currently the leading immigrant incarcerater state in the country–to an already massive and deadly detention system for the next decade.
