2023-2024 Registration for Children's Faith Formation and Penance & Communion
Please use this form to register all children (baptized Catholic) in your family for either Children's Faith Formation or First Sacraments, or both  (PreK- 4 up to 5th grade). If your child is not baptized, please contact the office about RCIA for your child. 

"...the family home is rightly called 'the domestic church,' a community of grace and prayer,  a school of human virtues and of Christian charity" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1666). With this principle in mind, our parish supports parents as the "First teachers of their children in the ways of faith."

Costs:
      Children's Faith Formation (book & online): $30
      First Sacraments (books & materials): $60
      Not to exceed $150 per family for all faith formation (including middle & high school youth)

Children's Faith Formation
For children not attending a Catholic elementary school (PreK- 4 up to 5th grade)

Children come together weekly on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 9:50 AM (in between the 8 AM and 10 AM Masses) at the classrooms in OLMC School. Parents / guardians will walk and pick their children up at their classroom. The children will be introduced to a new unit of study by catechists in age-appropriate groups. Parents then reinforce the unit theme with their children throughout the month.

The vision of faith formation, as described by the USCCB General Directory of Catechesis, states that effective ministry with families involves building a partnership between the church and the home.
Our goal this year is to support you and your family in passing on the faith with frequent communication with catechists to accompany your family and child in your faith journey.  Each child will be given a book for their grade level, as  well as access to online resources and additional materials.

First Penance & First Holy Communion Preparation
This preparation course is for all children in public, private, or Catholic schools who seek to receive the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.

Preparation will be a hybrid of classroom catechesis (Catholic school or CCD) and in-person workshops with parents, as mandated by the Diocese of Richmond. Attendance at three in-person sessions for First Penance and three for First Holy Communion will be required, in addition to periodic communication with the Coordinator of Children's Faith Formation and  your child's catechist.
