Fort Steele Leadership Program- 2017
The Fort Steele Leadership Program creates opportunities for Grade 8 & 9 students to organize, supervise and participate in activities that support the Grade 5 Fort Steele experience. Reporting directly to Mr. Pegg or Mr. Cadman, students will provide mentorship to younger students through active engagement in camp activities, assisting and supporting students by organizing and leading games, and developing self-confidence in their ability to assume a leadership role in an outdoor education environment. This initiative reinforces the development of skills related to interpersonal relationships, communication, and decision making, among many other valuable attributes. This position requires students to be absent from school for 3-4 days. Student transportation to and from Fort Steele will be via charter coach with the grade 5 students they will be leading. There will be no financial cost to participating in this program. We will be selecting 16 students to go to Fort Steele in groups of 4. We will also choose 2-4 alternates. This application is due no later than Friday, December 16th, 2016.
