Application for BreastfeedLA Lactation Education Specialist

About BreastfeedLA
BreastfeedLA is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of infants and families through education, outreach, and advocacy to promote and support breastfeeding. We accomplish this work by uniting, strengthening, and expanding the lactation community to better advocate, educate, engage, and mobilize our communities; and help improve the lives of families in our community.

We are committed to supporting the next generation of lactation educators. We are committed to inclusion, diversity, and equity as core values, embracing meaningful participation from diverse stakeholders and actively soliciting varied viewpoints. Our work is grounded in diversity, inclusion, and equity to facilitate our mission of commitment to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding in the communities we serve.

Four scholarships will be awarded to attend the lactation education specialist training ($495.00 value) as well as a train-the-trainer component. We are looking for candidates that have shown a strong interest in lactation and are involved in their communities. BreastfeedLA is an affirmative action employer and strongly encourages people of color, women, l/g/b/t/q individuals, those with disabilities, and those with working class backgrounds to apply to further their lactation education. Applicants who receive the scholarship will also be hired as consultants by BreastfeedLA and asked to provide future trainings in their community. Scholarship recipients will be compensated for their time as a trainer in future courses once they have completed the six week training. Complete application packages must be submitted by November 3rd at midnight.
