Dear Mr Müller,

Thank you for your letter of 24th October.

We were really sorry to hear that your trip to England was not as successful as one might have expected, and that you did not enjoy your stay at our London hotel as much as our other guests did.

It was unfortunate that you missed our special bus at the airport, but we believe you will agree that it was not our fault that you did so. You will remember that we sent you information about customs, duty-free shopping etc. before your trip.

We feel that our hotel manager was most helpful when he found you a room in another hotel. After all, the hotel was full, and it was perfectly all right for him to give your room to someone else when you did not arrive in time.

We regret to say that, as we feel that all this was your fault, we cannot repay 25% of the cost of the trip as you asked us to do.
We hope that your next trip will be more successful, and that you will give us the chance to welcome you as our customer on another of our many trips.

Yours sincerely,

WONDERLAND TRAVELS INC.
It was Wonderland Travel’s fault that Mr Müller had difficulties at the Customs at London Airport.

In reply to a member of the planning committee, Ms Palmer said that when he had explained the effects the new airport might have on the traffic going through Woodham he had said that there would not be more noise and dirt than there is at present. She wanted to know if that meant that he expected all future passengers to walk to the airport. He ought to know that British Rail had closed down Woodham Station five years ago, and that there were no plans to open it again or to extend services to the airport. She pointed out that there would only be the main road though Woodham to the airport, and that everyone would have to go there by car or bus. She regretted to say that she doubted the sincerity of his arguments.
A new airport is going to be built near Woodham.
