Training Descriptions:
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This full day training gives individuals the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) trains teachers, parents, peers, supportive adults, and caring citizens how to help a youth who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or is in crisis. The course discusses mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and provides guidance through an action plan for both crisis and non-crisis situations.
QPR is an emergency response to someone in a mental health crisis and can save lives. You will learn: how to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal; the common causes of suicidal behavior; the warning signs of suicide; how to get help for someone in crisis.
ASIST is a two-day in-person workshop featuring powerful audiovisuals, discussions, and simulations. You will learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide, and how to provide a skilled intervention and develop a safety plan with the person to connect them to further support. This workshop will increase your willingness, confidence, and capacity to provide suicide first aid
.Soul Shop is an interactive workshop that equips faith community leaders to minister to those impacted by suicidal desperation. You will learn how to integrate suicide prevention into the life and ministry of the church, will identifying risk factors and warning signs.
