URGENT, Inc. invites local and regional artists to apply for Legacy in Layers, a transformative community arts residency designed to restore and reimagine the historic Negro Leagues mural at Dorsey Park in Miami’s Historic Overtown neighborhood.

This 18-month initiative will bring together a multidisciplinary team of artists, educators, and youth to blend muralism, wellness, documentary film, photography, and emerging technologies in a powerful act of cultural restoration and community healing.

We are seeking artists who are passionate about community engagement, storytelling, and using their creative practice as a catalyst for healing and social change.

Who We’re Looking For

  • AI/Digital Media Artists: Creatives with experience in film, photography, AI storytelling, or interactive design to enhance the multimedia layers of the project.

Artists who worked on the original mural, those with lived experience in Overtown, and deep connections to Miami’s Black cultural heritage are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Opportunities for professional development and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
