EOI - Behind The Scenes

Are you passionate about burlesque, events, performance, or production?
Want to get involved in the magic behind the curtain?

We’re seeking a team of amazing humans, with mixed levels of experience, to help make the inaugural Melbourne Festival of Tease a glittering success. We have a mix of paid and volunteer opportunities available.

What’s the gig?

Roles will span a wide range of areas, including:

  • Front-of-House & Box Office

  • Greenroom support

  • Stage & tech runners

  • Stage kitties

  • Drivers

  • Social media & content capture

  • Artist & audience liaison

  • Workshop/panel assistance

  • Tech support

  • Bump-in and bump-out crew

  • Costume & styling support

  • Production admin

  • Virtual shopping (to assist those with unable to physically attend the markets)

  • Gogo Dancing (after party!)

Some roles will be one-night-only. Others may include a few hours across the festival weekend. All roles will be clearly defined, professionally supported, and absolutely appreciated.

Paid vs volunteer roles

We believe everyone should be paid for their time, labour, and energy. That is 100% the goal. However, as this is the first year of the Festival (with a shoestring indie budget!), we’re being upfront:

  • Some roles will be paid, especially those with high responsibility or experience needed

  • Some will be volunteer, with perks (free tickets, food, merch, credits, letters of recommendation)

  • Others will be learning-based, where emerging artists shadow or assist pros to gain experience

  • We’ll assign roles based on experience, independence, and the nature of the tasks

This is an investment year — and our goal is that those who grow with us will be paid in future years as returning pros. You can nominate below what you are open to (paid and/or volunteer).

Should you apply?

This is for you if you:

  • Love live performance, burlesque, cabaret, or creative events

  • Are organised, reliable, and have a calm vibe under pressure

  • Want to gain (or share) experience in events, arts, or backstage roles

  • Are a student or emerging creative who wants to learn by doing

  • Are a seasoned tech or events human happy to pitch in and support a new indie festival
