Summer
School Rules:
1.
Students
can complete the majority of work online at home, but are required to take
exams in person.
2.
Complete
and submit the mandatory Orientation assignment online no later than June 30. Students that do not submit the Orientation assignment by June 30 will be
dropped from the class.
3.
All
work must be completed no later than noon on July 17, 2024.
Orientation:
- Although not required, it is
strongly recommended that students attend an in-person Orientation session during the first two weeks of school.
- Orientation sessions will be offered every hour on
the hour during school hours for the first two weeks of summer school.
Students can attend any time that is convenient. Attending an in-person
Orientation session will
give students the opportunity to meet their teacher and to thoroughly
understand any requirements
specific to their class. In past years, student success was directly linked to
attendance at an Orientation session.
Drop
Deadline:
- If you wish to drop a course once enrolled, you must do so no later than July 9.
- All grades earned will be reflected on the CUSD
permanent transcript.
- After July 9, any grade earned will be recorded on the
CUSD permanent transcript.
Parent
Emails: NOTE: ALL email goes ONLY to the parent email in
Aeries
- Starting in Mid-Late April: Welcome email explaining how
the class works, dates, locations, and other important information.
- On June 9: Second email with teacher assignment and more
specific details.
Work
Load and Exams (Can I still have a summer break?):
- Students should plan to spend approximately 15-25
hours per week, per class, completing online work at home or school,
at the beach, or on an airplane. Students must be able to set aside ample time
to work on the course in
order to be successful.
- Students can come in to take exams any time school is
in session on any day or time that is convenient. Many students
choose to take multiple exams in one sitting, reducing the number of in-person
testing days to 2-3
days over the course of the 6-week summer session per course. Plan for 30-60
minutes to complete each
exam, with about 5-7 exams per course.
- With this flexibility in mind, students can arrange
to take their exams so that they can still take family vacations,
attend sports camps, hold a summer job, or binge-watch Netflix.
Students CANNOT take both Health and Geometry during the same summer.
