Verleden - Heden is hosting an exhibition, symposium, art talk and workshops. The exhibition “Past—Present: Art Schools in Indonesia” features artworks and archives representing the art schools affiliated with the Faculty of Art and Design at Bandung Institute of Technology (FSRD-ITB) and the Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta (ISI-Yogya). This event will delve into the history and development of art schools in Indonesia, tracing their evolution from traditional academies to contemporary educational institutions. The two art schools significantly shape contemporary artistic practices and cultural identities in Indonesia, and this exhibition showcases influential artworks, archival materials, and stories from students, alums, and educators.

Over three days, the symposium and art talk "Navigating Networks: Art School Today" will gather educators, artists, curators, galleries, and scholars from Indonesia and European countries to explore the historical background, trajectory, and future of art schools. It will foster meaningful conversations about innovative practices, social responsibilities, and the evolution of art education.

The symposium entitled " Navigating Networks Art School and Its Trajectory" features distinguished speakers from a multitude of fields, including educators, artists, scholars, curators, researchers, students, and professionals within the art community from both Indonesia and Europe. Its objective is to explore the historical contect and prospective directions of art schools, thereby facilitating comphrehensive discussions on innovative methodologies, social responsibilities, and the evolution of art education in an increasingly globalized society. 

The Program is organized by the Education and Cultural Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in the Hague, the Faculty of Art and Design of Bandung Institute Technology, and the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta.
