Welcome to SLRC Winter Learn-to-Row for Juniors!
This program provides an introduction to the sport of rowing by the St. Louis Rowing Club for youth ages 12-17 (girls and boys). Winter Learn-to-Row begins on December 2nd, 2019 with a FREE introductory week, and runs through February 14, 2020.

Instruction begins with a brief history, tour and discussion of rowing terminology, technique, and safety. After learning the basics of the rowing stroke on an indoor rowing machine, weather allowing, participants will get hands-on experience in an eight person shell. Following lessons at the dock, they will push off and head out to open water. Lessons will then be focused on proper body position and movement, building boat speed, and working together as a crew. This is a unique opportunity to try the sport and make new friends.

Once participants have completed the winter Learn To Row session, they will be better prepared to try out for the youth novice competitive team (ages 13-17). Try outs for the spring season are tentatively scheduled to begin on February 16th 2020.

The cost of the winter session is just $275 for rowers who chose to continue after December 8th. In addition, $75 of the winter Learn-to-Row fee is applied to the spring season membership dues if the rower participates in try outs and is selected for the novice youth competitive team.
