Dear Parents of CMS 6th Graders,
In an effort to take advantage of warmer September weather and engage with our local community, the CMS 6th grade team is planning a field trip for Friday, September 20, 2024.
On this Friday, the 6th grade will bus to Maplehurst Natural Area for hands-on teaching and learning. We will depart from CMS at 8am and return after lunch. The topics to be covered at multiple stations are:
Intro to Mountain Biking with Norte
Water Cycle Activity
Geocaching and Mapping
Ecosystem Scavenger Hunt
Since this constitutes a contrast to our normal days in school please be aware of the following health and safety precautions that are being put in place:
Students who do not feel comfortable biking, will have an alternative activity.
I understand participants will be learning bicycle safety, bike handling skills,
mechanic skills. As part of learning these skills, s/he will be working with bicycle related tools
and riding on trails. I will not hold Norte Youth Cycling, its owners, members, officers, directors,
staff, employees, volunteers, funders, insurers, agents, attorneys or any other persons
associated with the Norte Field Trip responsible for any injuries or accidents, for negligence or
otherwise, that may occur during my child’s participation. I have read and understand the Norte
Field Trip Rights and Responsibilities.**
