Since it was founded in 1961, the San Jose Japanese Community Youth Service has provided avariety of athletic and other activities for our youth. Through their participation in theorganization, generations of young people have learned valuable lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, and good health. They’ve been able to develop skills, build self-esteem andmeet life- long friends. But more than that, over the years the organization has served thecommunity and united the community. CYS has taught Japanese American youth the value ofpublic service. CYS members participate in Yu-Ai Kai activities and other events. Each yearhundreds of people flock to Japantown to enjoy the CYS Pancake Breakfast on Mother’s Day,which is one of the primary community events. The organization is committed to continueserving as a resource and as a rallying point for the community.
