Bishop's Election Committee Survey
In the Northeastern Minnesota Synod, a discernment process takes place prior to calling the next Bishop. A bishop’s term is for six years with eligibility to serve two terms. In 2020, Bishop Aitken will conclude his second term and voting members at the May 2020 Synod Assembly will elect the next bishop. A one year discernment process that ends with calling the next bishop will begin at the 2019 Synod Assembly.

You are invited to participate in this survey to help prepare for the bishop election in 2020. Your input and insight will inform the Bishop Election Committee (BEC) as they develop a Synod Ministry Site Profile that highlights our synod’s ministry and mission. It also will assist the BEC in formulating questions for nominees to discuss in candidate forums.

If you have questions, you may contact your Conference Dean for more information. Thank you for taking the time to walk together in this time of great discernment and hope for the future of our synod. Please fill the survey out only once.
