This year, we are running two chapters at Aloha-Huber Park K-8 School (Beaverton) and McKinley Elementary School (Tanasbourne).
We need volunteers for these programs! There are a couple of positions that need to be filled:
Chapter Instructor - Our instructors should be experienced musicians who are capable of teaching small groups of 4th-5th graders how to play simple pieces by ear. Teachers should be present and ready to teach at every class (once a week, 1 hour a week). We are primarily looking for violinists and flutists for our programs, but if you play any other instrument and you are interested, please contact us! We have the most need for this position right now.
Chapter Manager - We are looking for one manager for each chapter. The manager's duties will include making announcements, taking attendance, managing violin distribution and inspections at each program, handing out forms and information sheets, taking photos and videos of classes, and coordinating with the teacher at the school. The attendance of chapter managers is more flexible, but managers should be present at almost every class. You do not need musical experience to be a manager.
Private Lesson Teacher - Private lesson teachers have the flexibility to work with their student to schedule lesson times and locations. Teachers should be experienced, mature musicians who are capable of teaching an individual student for a full thirty minute lesson. Teachers receive volunteer hours for lessons taught in each term.
Other Positions - We are also looking for people who can work with social media, fundraising, etc. If you are interested, let us know!
Leadership positions are available in the organization for experienced members. Chapter Instructors and Chapter Managers will receive free t-shirts. We can also provide volunteer hour certificates and letters of recommendation for volunteers.
