SCIP Community Project Submission Form
Each summer, a group of 20 high school student volunteers in the Suncoast Science Center/Faulhaber Fab Lab's Student Community Innovation Program (SCIP) spend over 100 hours working on a chosen project, alongside a community partner. Last year, the SCIP team designed, fabricated and installed art sculptures focused on a facet of community health at the Manatee County Health Department. In 2022, the team enhanced and built soft-release habitats at the Crowley Nature Center. In 2021, the team built a microforest and accompanying educational website with The Florida Veterans for Common Sense Fund and SURF. In 2020, the students built a 'COVIDucation' app with the Sarasota County School District. You can learn more about previous projects at https://suncoastscience.org/scip.

This year we are seeking submissions on community projects, or areas of community need. The ideal submission would include several different facets that the students could tackle such as design, fabrication, concepting/prototyping. The project may also include a technology, web design, marketing or social media aspect. The project may be in the early stages, or a loosely defined idea where the students can help bring it to fruition.

Please email steven.piskoty@suncoastscience.org if you have any questions, thanks!

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, April 26.
We will evaluate submissions after this date and reach out for more information if we think your project may be a good fit!
