Every year the visual and media arts department sets out to explore new events and programs to engage the youth population of our community and strengthen and build new community partners.
DIY Zone is a one-day symposium featuring “make it take it” activities and workshops relating to engineering, environmental sustainability, robotics, music technology, app development, game design & screen-printing. All high school age youth will be invited to participate.
The DIY Zone event will run from 9am – 4pm, on Wednesday, November 15th with workshops happening in various studios within the center, with the feature screening and jurying of the Teen24 Film Challenge at 5pm. Teen music performers and DJ’s will be invited to perform throughout the day. Schools and teachers will be invited to bring entire classes out for the day, it will be also open to any youth interested in registering. We aim to expose young people to creative solutions, innovative ideas, new technologies and hands on projects that will inspire and foster creative problem solving.
