Emergency Child Care Staffing
Governor Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) in partnership with local governments across Illinois know that now more than ever, we need to support our state’s essential workforce. The best place for children is at home, but for some workers that is not an option. Many of these families need to access child care in order for them to serve their communities.
We know many early learning programs (centers and homes) have closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While providers may apply to re-open as an Emergency Child Care Center for children of essential workers, not all will do so.
Staff from programs that decide to not apply for an emergency license may be able to temporarily work in programs that are providing emergency care. If the program you work for is remaining closed and you are willing to temporarily work in another program during this time, please complete this form so we can contact you in case there is a need in your area.
In making this decision, you may wish to consider whether you (or anyone in your household) is at elevated risk for the virus, such as individuals who are over age 60 or have an existing health condition, as it is important that these people limit exposure to people outside of their home.
