To join our group of ‘like-minded’ children, fill in the form and also please provide evidence that at least one child in the family has intellectual or creative ability in the top 5% of the population. This will include a letter from pre-school/ school or parent with specific information about the child's learning, social behavior and development indicating ability in the top 5%. Information could include a combination of the following:• Reached developmental milestones very early (or very late e.g., speaking in complex sentences at three after not using much in the way of single word utterances); and• Complex play patterns; and• PAT (done in most schools after age of 6), assTTle, or other educational assessment; and• Reading age (demonstrating comprehension at least 2 years ahead of actual age); and• Exceptional creative thinking/work; and• Any other relevant information demonstrating an area of outstanding aptitude or competence.

From time to time NZAGC needs information to support statistical research, lobbying and other purposes relevant to the aims of the organisation. This information will be used in such a way that individual members/children will not be identified.
NZAGC occasionally has requests from professionals/parents seeking members in their area. We will send any such requests for contact to you by email and allow you to determine if you wish to respond.
We will take photographs of children at Explorers events as part of group activities and may include these photographs in Tall Poppies, in promotion of our events to the community, in our local magazine to members or on the local or national website - but we will not name any children unless you give us express permission to do so. If you do not want your children included in any photographs at all please note that below and advise us at club day events so we can avoid taking photographs of your children wherever reasonably possible.
NZAGC has a discussion forum where issues affecting gifted children are discussed. You will be sent email communications from this forum and can comment on these if you wish. If you do not wish to continue to receive the forum communications you can “unsubscribe” from this feature.
Parents must supervise all their own children regardless of age at all times as Auckland Explorers will not be held liable for your safety or your children's safety during activities.
