This fellowship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of team building, community organizing, and communications that would help build your resume and professional development. This position is ideal for a junior or senior in high school, or mature underclass student.
Recruit and develop new student leadersHost weekly organizing meetings at your schoolAdvance the issue campaigns of LITAssist in planning, writing, and managing monthly email blastDesign flyers, graphics, e-vites, and other marketing material for major eventsHelp maintain and grow the youth voice on digital media platformsAttending organizing meetings to stay updated on the organization's workCollaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and values for marketing and communicationsAssist youth organizer in the development of your school LIT chapterAct as brand ambassadors at public events
Self-motivated, good organizational skills, details oriented, ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlinesEnthusiasm for the mission of LIT An effective communicator, both written and oralWillingness to learn new toolsMust have reliable methods of communication and transportation
Compensation: $300 per month (5 hours/week)*Note: Hours may vary by week
LIT Fellow Expectations/Agreements:
Weekly check-ins with your supervisor (Youth Organizer)Set agenda for and help facilitate weekly meetingsActively recruit members at your school and have one on ones Attend leadership trainings facilitated by LIT’s Program Coordinator Assist in the leadership development of membersAssist Program Coordinator with the planning and execution of Black HogwartsArrive to meetings, events, etc on a timely manner Communicate with organizer when problems ariseWork with other fellows on a variety of projects
