Seguimos Creando Enlaces fosters community connections and cultural diversity in public, academic, and special libraries. This annual conference welcomes library workers from both sides of the California-Mexico border to share best practices and work towards more inclusive library spaces for all.
The Call for Proposals for the 9th Annual Seguimos Creando Enlaces Conference is now open. This year’s conference theme is Civic Engagement in Action. The conference committee welcomes presentations that demonstrate how public, academic, and special libraries support civic engagement and social change. We encourage submissions that highlight civic engagement initiatives among Latinx, Spanish-speaking, immigrant or refugee communities. Submissions are due Monday, March 16, 2020. Please read instructions below.

Civic Educator—Proposals that show how libraries raise awareness of civics, civic engagement, and civic responsibility
Conversation Starter—Proposals that show how libraries identify challenging community issues, create forums for sharing opinions, and develop action plans
Community Bridge—Proposals that show how libraries bring together diverse people, including local government officials and organizations with different perspectives
Panel Presentation (45-minute session) – Group of 2-3 civic engagement leaders in libraries answer questions from a moderator and share best practices related to the conference theme
Library & Community Partner Presentation (30-minute session) – Group of 2-3 presenters share examples of civic engagement in action
Lightning Round – Speaker shares an innovative concept or idea related to civic engagement in a 10-minute presentation
Poster Session or Data Walk – Submit an idea for a poster session related to the conference theme or share relevant research about civic engagement.
