Thank you for your interest in Emergency Online Teaching and the Neoliberal University: A Follow-Up Discussion.
Please complete the form below to register for the meeting.
The discussion will take place on Friday the 3rd of July, 2020 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST through Zoom.
The time will be divided into three parts of roughly equal length, one for each of the following topics:
1. sharing experiences and raising concerns about the implications for public education and research of emergency online teaching as it has been implemented
2. sharing ideas and resources for how we as faculty can retain some pedagogical integrity during emergency online teaching
3. beginning to talk about what kind of university will best safeguard and advance public education and research post-COVID and starting to develop strategies that move us in that direction now
The discussion will be open to all in attendance. Instructions on joining the Zoom meeting will be sent to registrants on June 30, at which time the Zoom room ID and password will also be sent to those who have registered. If you register through this form after June 30, you will receive instructions on joining the Zoom meeting on the morning of July 3rd.
The purpose of this meeting is to start a conversation that follows up on themes raised in the recent article by Honor Brabazon, published as "The academy’s neoliberal response to COVID-19: Why faculty should be wary and how we can push back" in OCUFA's Academic Matters and a shorter version as "Faculty should push back during COVID-19" in CAUT's Bulletin. General familiarity with the article is expected. You can access the article here:
