What is mental health first aid? Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. With this 2-day, internationally accredited course, you can become a youth mental health first aider.
About the course The course is for those who teach, work, live and care for children and young people aged 8-18 years. It enables you to better identify, understand and help a young person who may be developing a mental health problem. Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions.
The course is divided into 4 modules: • What is mental health?
• Depression and anxiety • Suicide and psychosis
Self-harm and eating disorders
Trainer: Emma Wilson, a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and consultant.
At the end of the course, you shall receive an MHFA manual.Attendance on both days, in full, is required to receive the certificate and become a qualified youth mental health first aider.
