Open Call for Workshops | PRX Podcast Garage (Boston and San Francisco)
At the PRX Podcast Garage, we support independent voices in audio and our doors are open to anyone who wants to learn. We're always looking for new instructors in the Boston and San Francisco area to teach workshops that help our creators make the audio project of their dreams. We hire instructors with experience working in podcasting or radio, although you do not need to have formal teaching experience to apply — just a passion for the medium and our mission to make it accessible to all. Each instructor brings a unique set of skills and shares a commitment to creating learning experiences that are interactive, engaging, and inclusive for participants.
*Note: Please fill out this form if you are new to teaching at the Podcast Garage or if you are proposing a new workshop. If you have taught a workshop here before that you'd like to teach again, please reach out to us directly at info@podcastgarage.org.*
All of our workshops are focused on a specific skill or competency related to audio storytelling or podcasting. They also feature hands-on exercises and discussion - this is not a lecture! The length can vary from 2 to 4 hours with a class size of 10 to 20 students to encourage more interaction with other students and the instructor. Scholarships are available for every workshop and anyone with financial need can apply.
Our classrooms feature movable tables and chairs, audio playback, and a monitor for videos and presentations. We also have a state-of-the-art recording studio (in Boston) and over a dozen audio field kits (both locations.)
If you’re selected to teach at one of our locations, we’re happy to develop the curriculum and details of the workshop with you further. We pay instructors $250+ depending on the length and format of the class. We are accepting applicants on a rolling basis.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing your ideas!
