The Academic Decathlon summer school class aims to prepare students for the next Academic Decathlon competition, but it is also open to those who are interested in learning about this year's theme,
Technology and Humanity, or those who want to improve their academic and public speaking skills.
During the course, students will delve into various subjects such as neuroscience, the history of computer science, and technology's impact on art. We will also explore musical works used in science fiction films and read the novel
The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin. Moreover, the course offers students an opportunity to develop their public speaking, interview, and essay writing skills, which are essential for success in the Academic Decathlon and beyond.
The summer school program will run from June 5th to July 7th, with classes scheduled five days a week for five weeks.
The bell schedule for each day is as follows:
- Periods 1-2 - 8:00am - 10:53am
- Nutrition break - 10:53am - 11:07am
- Periods 3-4 - 11:07am - 2:00pm
The Academic Decathlon class is a Credit/No Credit course. To gain the most out of the class and program, we strongly recommend registering for both Periods 1-2 and 3-4.
