Brother Outsider Documentary Registration
This is a FREE Black History Month Event sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement and the Bonner Leader Program.

"Five years in the making and the winner of more than 25 international awards and honors, Brother Outsider illuminates the life and work of Bayard Rustin, a visionary activist and strategist who has been called “the unknown hero” of the civil rights movement. A mentor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a disciple of Gandhi, and chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, Rustin dared to live as an openly gay man during the fiercely homophobic 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. This "potent and persuasive" (Los Angeles Times), "beautifully crafted" (Boston Globe) and "electrifying" (MetroWeekly) documentary chronicles the triumphs and setbacks of Rustin's 60-year career as an advocate for justice, equality, and human rights."

The virtual window for viewing the Brother Outsider Documentary is from Saturday, February 13 - Thursday, February 18.  The viewing window is opening 24/7 each day.

The Q&A with Mr. Bennett Singer (Director) and Mr. Walter Naegle (Bayard Rustin's partner) will be a virtual experience on Tuesday, February 16 at 7:00 pm.  Please submit questions for the Q&A to serve@lynchburg.edu

Upon completion of this form, you will receive the link and password to the viewing and an invitation to the GoogleMeet Q&A.
