How you can help?
We are very excited to be building new accessible learning technology for chemistry with a Department of Education grant that combines physical manipulatives, Augmented Reality, and web-based digital interactives.
There are two ways you can help us in our research as we create this new method for learning for both sighted and Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) students.
1) We need sighted students to try out a web-based interactive lesson on Lewis Structures. We will use anonymized data to develop a hint system for the lesson.
Students can use the lesson as part of class, as a homework assignment, or for extra credit / enrichment. Just by using this learning tool, your sighted students are helping blind students learn chemistry!
2) If you have a BVI chemistry student currently in your school or university, we would LOVE to hear from you! We would work with your special education teacher / accessibility specialist and our research team to test the prototype of the new learning system.
