About

The mission of the Sayyida Hafsa Quran Society (H.Q.S.) is to inspire and facilitate the recitation and memorization of the entire Holy Quran by all women with a focus on Black Muslim women.

Our goal is to create a supportive community of like-minded women who work together in peer-to-peer cohorts and virtual gatherings, implementing a regimented program that guides, motivates, and enables them to complete the recitation and/or memorization of the entire Holy Quran with proper tajwid within five years.

Program Details

We offer a year-round structured and supportive learning community for Muslim women who commit to progressing with the recitation and/or memorization of the entire Holy Qur'an with tajwid to a certified teacher. Our affiliate organization is Measured Tones Institute of Quran.

Expert Quran Tutors

Our virtual program allows members to recite to experienced and licensed teachers. Join our learning community learning to reach our Quranic recitation fluency goals and work collaboratively with a professional program that is innovative, engaging, and nurtures self-motivated students to help preserve the sacred science of tajwid with your peers.

Current teachers: Hafidha Sakeena Abdusshakur, Hafidha Jamela Rahmani (shahada Hafs certified), Ustadha Halima Afi(Hafs recitation ijazah), and Ustadha Swiyya Haqq (Hafs recitation and Ashara sughra ijazah). Ustadha Kiashe Pugh (Application of Tafsir)

*HQS teachers can issue a shahadah certificate upon completion and/or an Ijazah for Quran Hafs Recitation. At the teachers discretion.

Who is the H.Q.S. for?

The Sayyida Hafsa Quran Society is EXCLUSIVELY for Muslim women who are actively engaged in reciting the entire Holy Quran in a 5-year period. (keeping a pace of 10 pages per month memorization or recitation)

We have two tracks 1) Hifzul Quran or 2) Tilawaatul Quran 3) Write/Trace the Quran  (No pre-requisite for either pathway. Beginners are welcome.)

• Hifzul Pathway: Memorization of the Holy Quran on or before 5 years. (length of completion varies upon individual fluency skill level)
• Tilawa Pathway: Recitation of the Quran with tajwid proficiency.
• Tajwid Mastery Pathway: Recitation of the entire Holy Quran in tajwid on or before 5-10 years. 
• Trace/Write the entire Holy Quran.

Program dates, duration, and activities:

Our members meet year-round. Application closes when all available spots fill. 

Our intention is to facilitate a learning community that has the tools and skills to recite the entire Holy Quran in Arabic by the Muslim Woman. We have various engaging and fun activities to expose ourselves to the vast science of tajwid. HQS meets virtually bi-weekly and quarterly.

• Virtual bi-weekly study hall for Quran recitation. Goal recite 10 pages monthly(1 Hisb).

• Virtual quarterly tajwid challenge events. Our Sayyida Hafsa Quran challenge, a Quran knowledge-based fun activities, workshops (excluding the cost of housing/transportation/food).

Membership Fee - $680 yearly (or 60 monthly). The yearly membership fees include the following:

• The HQS Quranic Journey Book Kit 
• 3-12 Hours monthly  of recitation with a Quran teacher. Upon khatam completion ability to earn a Quran certificate (shahadah) or license (ijazah). *at the discretion of the teacher. Each session 40 minutes in duration.
• Access to a Quran learning community. (via whatsapp group)
• Welcome Kit (US residents only)
  

*No Scholarship is available at this time. 

H.Q.S. Admission requirements:

• 17 years of age or older Muslim female.
• Identity of Muslim.
• Agreement to participate and engage in the HQS virtual learning community with the camera ON.
  
• Willingness to practice living Quranic character before you teach Quran.
• Fill out the new member application below.
• After finding a suitable schedule with an HQS instructor. Agree to pay the membership fee of $680.
