A field trip at the Wabash County Museum is a great way to bring classroom lessons into a real world environment. The Museum offers more than 100 permanent exhibits as well as educational play and STEM-focused areas in the Museum.
Field Trips are built around Indiana State Curriculum Standards using Essential Standards whenever possible.
Field trips are scheduled for 90 minute periods for smaller groups and 2 hours for larger groups on Tuesday through Friday. (The museum is closed on Mondays.) Field trips must be scheduled in advance to ensure the appropriate staff is scheduled to lead the visits.
COST: Crossroads Bank sponsors free field trips for Wabash County Public Schools. For all other schools, field trips cost $3/student and include one free adult for every 10 children. Extra adults are $3 each.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Field trips are guided, pre-planned tours of the museum. Groups interested in visiting the museum only to visit The Den are not considered field trips and will pay full admission price.
- For Home School Groups & Groups brining multiple grade levels at one time: The museum staff does not have the capacity to lead groups made up of varied ages/grades. We offer a self-guided tour option to these groups. Each adult in your group will receive a self-guided tour sheet. This document includes fun facts about key exhibits. The group may split up as they choose and move through the museum at your own pace.
- Each bus should park in the Museum's east parking lot and children should walk to the front entrance of the museum. If spaces are available along the street in front of the east parking lot, buses may park here as well. Parking is free at the museum and in all of downtown Wabash.
- *While chaperones are welcome, chaperones MAY NOT bring accompanying children or family members who are not part of the scheduled class. If a chaperone brings children who are not part of the class, the chaperone and their children will be required to pay full admission price.
- Having a membership to the museum does not apply to field trip admission costs.
- It helps the staff prepare if final counts are provided about 10 days before the visit. They may be communicated via email.
- Field trips will be invoiced in advance and payment is required in advance or at the door unless other arrangements have been approved.
