As a certified green burial ground through the Green Burial Council, there are strict guidelines that must be met for grave decorations and/or memorials at La Puerta. These restrictions are meant to ensure that we are minimizing our impact on the land, and keeping with our mission to protect and preserve the native ecosystem.

You may place flowers (remove any plastic, Styrofoam, or glass) or small stones on graves at anytime without having to request permission. However, any permanent decorations or other items must be approved by Natural Burial New Mexico through submitting this form. We will respond with the status of your approval within 2-4 business days of your submission.

Any items placed on graves that have not been approved may be removed at the discretion of cemetery management. While efforts to preserve and return the non-permitted ornamentation will be made, it is not guaranteed.

Natural Burial New Mexico is not responsible for the damage, loss, or destruction of any items placed on graves.
