Master Classes
From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we will have concurrent master classes in different rooms:
1. Oboe Master Class, led by guest artist Emily Tsai
2. Bassoon Master Class, led by guest artist Dr. Christin Schillinger

At 11:30 a.m., first-year oboe and bassoon students will have the option to move to a different room and work with PSU faculty Dr. Oeste and Dr. Fay on fundamentals of double reed playing.

A master class is like a lesson with an audience. Performers receive direct feedback from the teacher and the audience learns through active listening and observation. There will be time for 3-6 students to perform in each class. Don't be shy! This is an excellent opportunity to receive feedback from our fabulous guest artists, gain valuable performance experience, and learn more about our weird and wonderful instruments. Parents are welcome to observe any sessions that are of interest to them.
Would you like to perform in one of the master classes? Note that due to time constraints, we may not be able to honor every request. We will confirm performers no less than one week before Double Reed Day. *
