Outdoor Classroom Initiative
Please review our planned centers for our outdoor classroom, feel free to add any items to a center and/or an entirely new play center that you think will benefit the children. Quality outdoor equipment requires creativity and often, expense. If you have a creative suggestion for equipment and/or suggestion for resources, please take a moment to indicate that.
Mud & Dirt Play Center ~ Children will explore our Earth. Pretend to plant a garden, dig for bugs or just feel the dirt and mud. ~ What items would you suggest to add to this center?
Art Center ~ Children can paint and draw outdoors. Art looks different in the sunlight,or in the shadows. We plan to install an outdoor easel with paint and brushes. ~ What items would you suggest to add to this center?
Music Center ~ Music and sound is wonderful to explore, to hear and feel, especially outdoors when loud is welcomed. ~ What items would you suggest to encourage music exploration outside?
Build Center ~ Construction often happens outside, and children can pretend to be the workers they see around town. Incorporating elements that are designed for outside and can withstand weather is important. ~ What items would you suggest to enhance our construction area?
Gross Motor Center ~ The outside is for climbing, balancing and developing large muscles. We need to meet this need while still being aware of age restrictions and safety. ~ What suggestions do you have for items and equipment that will enhance large muscle development?
Center Suggestion ~ What are do you think we are missing? What would you like to see incorporated into the Outdoor Classroom?
