Location: Online (Zoom)
Date: December 16, 2019
Time: 9:00-10:30am EDT
Please join the Expansion of the Child Health Package Subgroup on Monday, December 16th at 9:00am EDT for a webinar on the recent report, "Review of Newborn Health Content in Integrated Management of Newborn and Childhood Illnesses and Integrated Community Case Management Training Materials and Job Aids in Seven Maternal and Child Survival Program Countries."
USAID’s flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) conducted a review of newborn care content in Integrated Management of Newborn and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI) and Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) materials from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zambia. The assessment was designed to understand the newborn care content in country IMNCI and iCCM materials and to compare this content with global recommendations. The review specifically focused on content related to essential newborn care, postnatal care, care for low-birthweight and preterm babies, breastfeeding and support to mothers for breast milk feeding, management of possible serious bacterial infection, and care during referral.
The webinar will be led by the lead author of the report, Dr. Abeba Bekele. She will provide an overview of the review's findings and recommendations, which aim to inform global and national-level discussions and revisions to newborn content in standard guidelines for primary health service delivery.
