SOHA Lightning Oral History Boot Camp: Best Practices and Beyond

Friday-Saturday, July 15-16
Thank you for your interest in SOHA's 2-day virtual retreat with expert mentors, network opportunities, and self-guided research. Throughout the boot camp you will set personal goals, complete readings, and actively work toward your own oral history project.
A Typical Day Includes:
Morning Zoom session taught by expert historians (10-11am Pacific Time)
Guided research/practice (self-timed)
Virtual Feedback and Mentor Meeting (11:15am-noon Pacific Time)
Supplemental reading (self-timed)
Optional Social Hours to meet SOHA board members and other mentors/attendees
Students and scholars of all ages and experience levels are invited! Because of the intensive nature of our program, the boot camp is limited to 30 participants who will be selected based on this application.
Cost of registration is $45 which includes 1 year of SOHA membership, all materials and lessons part of the 2-day boot camp, intensive training approaches, connections to regional and national experts, and opportunities to work with other oral historians. The cost also covers direct guidance and mentorship while you conduct focused self-guided research. Graduates of the camp will be invited to present at the Southwest Oral History Association's annual conference in 2023.
