Join the 6-Week Course starting Saturday, April 17, 2021.
This past year, Pope Francis dedicated the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time as Sunday of the Word of God, encouraging us to look more carefully at what the Bible can teach us about our faith. Join Sarah Spieldenner, hospital chaplain and St. Boniface parishioner, as we read select psalms together, one psalm or group of psalms per class, using lectio divina, an ancient, easy and fun way to understand sacred text more profoundly. Each class will be dedicated to a psalm or psalms about a given emotion, such as joy, helplessness, and anger. In addition, we will use a similar easy method to unpack the richness of metaphors in the psalm. Via Zoom, class members will read a single psalm together, go into its metaphor or metaphors with each other, and then draw conclusions as a large group, in small groups, and individually. Some journal writing and judicious sharing of personal experience involved. Class members will learn to do lectio divina by themselves as well as in groups.
