Dear New York area friends of social justice music,
The People's Music Network (PMN) invites you to offer a room, couch, and/or floor space in your home for out-of-town musicians and activists during our annual PMN Winter Convergence, taking place at The People's Forum on Friday (320 West 37th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues), NYC), January 24, 2020 and at the Central Park East II Middle School on January 25 & 26, 2020 (First Avenue and East 101st Street). Both sites are located within the borough of Manhattan. We ask hosts to provide accommodations for two nights: Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
PMN is a diverse community of singers, artists, activists and allies that cultivates music and cultural work as catalysts for a just and peaceful world. Our upcoming gathering is a weekend event that moves around the Northeast each January. In the last two decades, we gathered in New York City in 2019, 2014, 2010, 2005, and 2000.
We hope many of you may join us for all or part of this exciting weekend. Please go to the PMN website (
http://peoplesmusic.org/) for details about the event, including registration information. Our Friday Night Concert on January 25, which is open to the public.
All meals, including breakfast, are included as part of the gathering, so there is no expectation of providing meals for someone staying in your home. The gathering runs all day, from early in the morning until late in the evening, so you may not even see much of your guest(s), unless you attend the weekend yourself.
Your offer of home hospitality may enable someone to attend who might not otherwise be able to afford to do so. We're especially looking for housing located near a bus line or Subway stop with, approximately, a 30-minute commute from Central Park East II Middle School, 443 East 100th St., New York, NY 10029 (East Harlem).
We would love to receive your offer of housing by January 10, 2020. Please fill out the form below at your earliest convenience. The more detailed the information we get on the form and the earlier we receive it, the better chance we have of making a “good fit” match between you and one or more of our travelling musicians.
Thank you,
Christine Glave and Joshua Garcia
