Patent Lawyers in the Library
Patent Lawyers in the Library is a program offered by the Los Angeles Public Library that aims to provide all types of inventors with patent legal guidance through a confidential consultation with a patent lawyer.  
  • The consultation is FREE and will last 30 minutes. 
  • The patent lawyer will try and answer your patent-related legal questions during your consultation but will not represent you or take any action on your behalf. 
  • This program is not a substitute for legal representation. 
Currently, these confidential consultations are being offered by Marc E. Brown. Mr. Brown has been a registered patent lawyer for about 50 years, has taught how to prepare and prosecute patent applications for about 15 years (mostly at USC Gould School of Law), and currently authors and makes publicly available his comprehensive indexed slides on Patent Drafting and Prosecution.

You may chose at the end of this form to have your consultation in person or remotely (via Google Meet or the telephone)In person consultations are usually scheduled on the first Saturday of each month between 1 and 3 pm at the Los Angeles Public Library located at 630 W. Fifth St. Remote consultations are are usually available on any day beginning at 9 am, except Sundays.  

The information that your provide in this form will be kept confidential. The Los Angeles Public Library will not disclose any of it, except to the pro bono patent lawyer assigned to your matter. That lawyer is also required to maintain this information confidential by the California Rules of Professional Conduct.
