Cass Turnbull Memorial Scholarship Application
PlantAmnesty’s founder, Cass Turnbull, was a champion of horticultural education and students of all skill levels. She provided space and opportunities for marginalized groups to have access to plants and plant care. To spread the love she had for pruning and to keep her legacy alive, PlantAmnesty is offering a full scholarship to our Master Pruner Program for five applicants each year.

Requirements of the scholarship:
  1. The Master Pruner course is one on-line class per month on Sunday mornings and 3 in-person workshops*.  We recognize that completion of all classes and workshops may take more than one year.  We encourage (but do not require) our scholarship recipients to complete the program within two years. If you are applying from out of state or out of the Seattle area, please tell us how you plan to accommodate the in-person workshop requirement.
  2. Scholarship recipients are expected to give ten (10) hours of volunteering to PlantAmnesty per year for (2) two years (20 hours total).  There are many volunteer opportunities at PlantAmnesty from helping at fundraising events to participating in yard make-overs.  We will send recipients more information on our diverse volunteer opportunities.
*note that the scholarship covers the Sunday online classes run by PlantAmnesty, not the online series offered through the UWBG ProHort program.

We are excited to have you apply! Please fill out the application below and send any questions to If filling out the written application is a barrier, please contact us via info@plantamnesty, and we'll help you complete the application by phone or video.
